- High-pressure sales tactics at the door — a "foundation repair expert" who knocks unsolicited and offers a free inspection is a sales operation, not a contractor
- Refusal to provide elevation readings in writing

- No physical address, no website, no reviews outside a sales-page testimonials list
- Quoting a full-house pier job without an elevation map showing why it is needed
- Asking for a deposit larger than 10% before any work begins
- No written warranty, or a "lifetime warranty" tied to the company itself
- Painting over cracks during the inspection instead of documenting them
